Hey Gene, Jonathan, good to see this new project you're embarking on! You and your audience will be interested to know about this link: an index into .mp3 of Kline's own lectures on Kingdom Prologue.
A few follow up questions. I know you are just getting started so maybe these things will be covered in future episodes.
1. Gene quotes Matt 5:38 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.” and then jumps to Matt 5:44 “But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” which you then seem to imply invalidates the OT law. However, v44 is actually a rebuttal of v43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” but the OT law never says to hate your enemy. The ESV Study Bible notes indicate that these verses (Matt 5:17-48) are a contrast in incorrect/correct application of the OT law which makes sense in light of Matt 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” but you seem to be saying Jesus did abolish them?
Further in Matt 22:39-40 “And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” If this is so how is obeying/enforcing the OT law hating my enemy?
2. Jonathan states that taking life without covenant authority is murder. So is the death penalty wrong in all cases today?
You guys don't hold to Kline's deplorable view of the creation narrative in Genesis do you? Just curious as to your take on his re-reading of Genesis 1 and 2.
